How did you get started in the travel business?
In 1979, my dad Jim Sadie asked me if I would “help” him with the bookkeeping at Alabama World Travel, and I was glad to until he could find someone else. Little did I know he was giving me the opportunity of a lifetime for a wonderful career in travel! In 2015 things began to change dramatically, building my passion for travel and all I believed about it! My husband and I took our first big trip abroad together, experiencing new peoples, cultures, sights, train travel, a river cruise, foods, languages, and all through each other’s eyes. The wonder was absolutely amazing! In 2017, he passed suddenly and I realized in exponential ways how deeply travel touches our lives! The memories of our travels together are some of the most endearing!
Now I spend my time immersing myself in discovery! Discovery through deep consultations with those seeking more than another trip. Discovery to help transform lives! Discovery to have specialist knowledge so I can match the right product with the right client for that season of life.
What has been your favorite trip so far?
My trip to Europe during the Christmas season with Mark is undoubtedly my favorite yet! We spent three days in Paris, walking through the beautiful City of Lights, seeing the enormous Eiffel Tower, walking down the Champs-Elysees at night, stopping in little cafes along the way, and seeing all three Arcs de Triomph, explained in detail by our private guide! Next was Amsterdam, taking in a canal cruise and an unforgettable tour of The Anne Frank House. Next was a wonderful river cruise down the Rhine River, seeing castles, vineyards, and countless parts of medieval history! We ended with a night in Zurich at the beautiful Dolder Grand, with a breathtaking view and incredible spa experience!
Where to next?
I am looking forward to my upcoming 10-day cruise from Montreal, along the St Lawrence River, and down the Atlantic, visiting the New England states during fall foliage! Next year, I hope to escort an Alaskan cruise and land tour to see the majestic northwest and its wildlife. Also on my list is a visit to the Holy Land to walk in the steps of Jesus! So many possibilities!!
Career Honors and Achievements:
I love to help others, so facilitating discussions for women and leadership groups, as well as my promotion to manager in 2011 have been special honors. I was thankful to achieve certification of CTIE (Certified Travel Industry Executive) from The Travel Institute in 2015.
Do you have a favorite quote or motto?
“It has to be win-win.” Every person is of great value, and I value people by seeking to make every situation optimal for all parties.
How do you enjoy spending your leisure time?
I love spending time with family, leading small group fellowships and Bible studies, cooking, baking, puzzles of all kinds, and the beach! I am a cheerleader at heart, so I also love to cheer people on wherever I go!
