How did you get started in the travel business?

Headshot - Seine
Along The Seine, Paris

Immediately following high school, my dad Jim Sadie recruited me to “help” him out at Alabama World Travel.  This gave me the opportunity of a lifetime to get my foot in the door for a great career in travel!  I was able to participate in several AWT group getaways as well as educational trips.  However, my passion for travel began my husband and I went to Europe together for the first time and we both experienced sights, train travel, a river cruise, foods, languages, and cultures we’d never tasted before!

What has been your favorite trip so far?

Jen-Mark Eiffel night

My recent trip to Europe during the Christmas season is undoubtedly my favorite yet!  We spent three days in Paris, walking through the beautiful City of Lights, seeing the enormous Eiffel Tower, walking down the Champs-Elysees at night, stopping in little cafes along the way, and seeing all three Arcs de Triomph, explained in detail by our private guide!  Next was Amsterdam, taking in a canal cruise and an unforgettable tour of The Anne Frank House.  Next was a wonderful river cruise down the Rhine River, seeing castles, vineyards, and countless parts of medieval history!  We ended with a night in Zurich at the beautiful Dolder Grand, with a breathtaking view and incredible spa experience!

Where to next?

I’ve not secured my next big trip, but hopefully an Alaskan Cruise and land tour to see the majestic northwest and its wildlife are in the near future!  Also on my list is a visit to the Holy Land to walk in the steps of Jesus!  So many possibilities!! – Time will tell!

Career Honors and Achievements:

I love to help others, so facilitating discussions for women and leadership groups, as well as my promotion to manager in 2011 have been special honors.  I was thankful to achieve certification of CTIE (Certified Travel Industry Executive) from The Travel Institute in 2015.

Do you have a favorite quote or motto?

“It has to be win-win.”  Every person is of great value, and I value people by seeking to make every situation optimal for all parties.

How do you enjoy spending your leisure time?

I love spending time with family, opportunities to minister and enrich other lives as I have been so blessed, traveling, cooking, baking, puzzles of all kinds, and the beach!  I am a cheerleader at heart, so I also love to cheer people on!
